Senja is presenting her Finland report today at school so we made these Finnish cookies for her to share with her class. They are called Joulu Torttu. They are a traditional Christmas cookie. My mother- in-law Nina makes them for us every year.
They are really fun and easy to make!
You just start with puff pastry and roll it out thin enough to cut 16 squares about 3"X 3"
It makes them cute if you use craft scissors or a wavy pastry cutter.
Cut each corner in leaving enough room for a little dab of jam.
Fold alternating corners into the middle making a cute little pinwheel. Seal the corners pretty good so they don't pop open when you cook them.
Bake on parchment paper at 350 degrees until golden. (about 10 min)
When they come out dust with powdered sugar.
How easy is that?
They are a great treat! You gotta love those Finns!
